  19. Only my trusty Derwent Graphic graphites, a Sakura Pigma Brush Pen, a Canary Yellow, True Blue and Crimson Red Prismacolor pencil, a kneaded eraser, sharpener and a small notebook. I don't like taking something that screams "I'm an artist, ask me what I'm drawing!" because I can loose my train of thought when people crowd around me and ask me what I'm doing. I like to be as discreet as possible. Sometimes I'll cut up some drawing paper into 2X3 sizes that I can hide in a book or magazine so I can sketch incognito! :) I make noes about colors, carry a camera and make all my Dark tones in Blue, my midtones in red and my highlights in yellow. It really helps me to have these 3-color-maps when I get back to my studio.

  20. The smallest drawing I'm working on, pencils ,an eraser, sharpner and brush. Bare minimum actually! :) I like to enjoy my vacations as well ;)

  24. I pack a messenger bag with a small drawing board, a full range pencil set,
colored pencils, kneaded erasers, a package of cheap drawing paper and a nice
pad of Bristol board, a ruler, small T square, and proportional divider.
Sometimes, I take a tightly sealed bottle of mineral spirits and Q tips and a small paint brush to dilute the colored pencils.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Definitely my sketch pad along with my graphite pencils. Sometimes, if I remember, I bring my watercolors along...they are fairly portable and make for a quick plein aire painting if I see something striking to capture via brushes instead of a camera.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I love Derwent's pencil pods (I have watercolour and sketching ones), I then add a couple of brushes, and my travel box of watercolour paints. Plus whatever sketchbook I happen to be working in :)

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  29. If I want to pack light, I take my pencil case with a variety of graphite and colored pencils (Prismacolor), a kneaded eraser, and a little pocket sharpener. If it's a longer time away, I've got a cookie tin of more colored pencils, and I'll likely take one of my electric sharpeners. And always my digital camera.

  30. A Sketchbook, Micro Pens, Mechanical Pencil, my 12 pack of Inktense, eraser and a sharpener.

    ReplyDelete
  31. My prismacolor pencils, pencil sharpener, sketch pad, umbrella for the sun, a soft blanket, bottle of wine and picnic basket, and my dog. Going to Newport to sketch the boats, gulls, crashing waves, the lighthouse at Breton Point and the kite flyers with all their brightly colored kites floating in the wind. Perfection!
