  9. I have been using colored pencils since I was thirteen, after playing with other mediums it was the one that I fell in love with. Almost fifteen years later we are still together and still going strong!

  13. I went to a Dick Blick Art Expo, which I had learned about the night before it opened. They were offering 3 hour classes, so I signed up for one that didn't require me to bring supplies. It was a colored pencil class.

  14. I am in love with colored pencils since I was a little girl and always currying my dream to use them as a real artist. One day I was searching for some perfect drawings using colored pencils, then I discovered "colored pencils" magazine and couldn't believe there is such a special magazine is exist!

  16. i discovered colored pencils as a 5 year old child, whilst staying at my aunt's house and being stuck at the hospital, i've used them on/off since i was this age
    i discovered artist's colored pencils at 17, my first 'proper' set of pencils were caran d'ache classicolor colored pencils and they were in a set of 40, then my mum got me derwents, prismacolors and faber castell polychromos later on in life :D,
    i discovered colored pencil magazine, whilst trying to search for ann kulberg's website in 2009

  17. I've just discovered colored pencils again on DeviantArt - there are some crazy talented people out there - I've been inspired to work with colored pencils again and I am having a ball with them. But there is so much more to learn and your magazine is amazing!!

  19. I first began using colored pencils in my Book Cover Illustration class in art school. My instructor said, Wow, it looks great, but I can't help you much. (He wasn't familiar with the medium). So I continued with my colored pencils while everyone else worked in oils. I haven't turned back since!

  21. I was scrolling the tagged bar on face book and I saw Some one tagged on a beautiful color pencil drawing.I have opened that and really I gotta in love with color pencil and the page .Next Day I bought a set and really I am in love with it.

  23. I was surfing painting and drawing sites. Painting looks a bit messy. I found the photorealist artists working in black and white and could not believe that I was not looking at photographs. I then found the same in colour together with fantasy characters. I am fairly sure that coloured pencil is the way forward for me. In my youth Christmas wasn't Christmas without a box of double ended coloured pencils.

  30. I originally used colored pencils (Prismacolor Verithin) when I was in high school. I drew lots of things. After high school, I got married, and forgot about art for 26yrs. Now, I'm back in college to pursue my dream of being an artist. I'm reacquainting myself with colored pencils. I am now using Prismacolor, Lyra, and Faber Castell. :)

  31. While living in Phoenix and purchasing art supplies in a Paint Supply Store, I noticed this really cool book, "Prismacolor" Your World, published by Berol. It's was tips & techniques using Berol Prismacolor & Berol Verithin Art Products, dated 1985. It was on sale for 49 cents. I was stunned when viewing the different artists, they all had unusual techniques. But, I fell in love with Esky Cook and how she made her art come alive. I was hooked. I still have that book today.

My parents bought be a set many years ago (derwent studio) a nice big tin of them - i still have them today and use them although some have been lost through moves and my children stealing them. They are my most treasured art supplies and although alot of them are soo short they are barely usable i still love them.

  43. I love anything to do with art supplies. I can still remember as a kid, getting my school supplies for school and my favorite 2 boxes were my crayons and my colored pencils. I am now 55. I still have ALL my crayons and ALL my colored pencils!! Since my kids are pretty much grown, I decided to go back to my passion, art, and decided I had neglected my colored pencils so in my quest for knowledge on how to use them, I surfed the net, and found The Colored Pencil Magazine. It was like coming home! Love love love it!!

  44. I joined Wetcanvas.com for sharing and increasing my knowledge in watercolor paintings and transformed myself from watercolor to colored pencils after reading and studying hours and hours of informative tips, lessons, etc.

    Now, I just love doing paintings with colored pencil.

  47. I have been following CPM and CPSA.org after viewing some amazing work at a local art gallery. My passion has always been colored pencils since elementary school. I have recently moved to the Northwest Florida Panhandle which has stimulated my interest in colored pencils as my medium to illustrate the natural beauty of the Emerald Coast.
