  1. Always took as many art classes as possible! Looking to go back to school soon here, going to be needing to take a whole lot of art classes and psychology classes. Art therapy is my dream! Can't wait to get back to learning :)I've always wanted to take ceramics/pottery and photography classes as well. Maybe one day!

  7. I´ve attended art class once, when I started with drawing. The teacher told me that I´m not good enough and will never be able to draw nice pictures - so I decided to leave and learn how to draw on my own. :)

  11. When I was 6 or 7, my parents had me take cartooning classes at a small studio in a storefront; that was the first art class I'd ever had, and lasted maybe a year. Later we found a private instructor who taught acrylics and I had lessons with her for a month or two. In community college I took one watercolor course in the summer, which was great for traveling to different locations, but the teachers only said my stuff was great and went on to help the other students. The best instruction I ever got was from a artist friend of my mother's. I got to spend a weekend at her house and receive basically a personalized workshop. I was 16 at the time and did not appreciate such a critical view of my work then, but she influenced my approach to art deeply and I am very grateful for what she gave me. Since then, I have had no time or resources for taking any more classes in art (having married young and now raising four children), but I look up art magazines online and study artists whose work I admire. And of course, I make art every day, because instruction does nothing without practice anyway.

  19. I once took a drawing class to fill my schedule enough to be full-time. It was something that I always wanted to do. I didn't really get much from the class, however. :-/ I recently took an online course in how to start an art business and found it invaluable!

  21. Sure. I was an art major in high school and continued to take classes in college. I took classes pre-Mommy days as well. I would love to take more classes, especially in art journaling...maybe online classes are the way to go.

  22. I took a lot of photography if that counts. My daughter is passionate about art and takes everything in school as well as classes outside of school during every winter/spring/summer break for the past 5 years. She's been trying to talk me into taking a class with her, maybe with erasers I'd be able to give it a go!

  27. I tried art in high school, but was not successful at having to work in a specific way or medium and not explore my own creativity. I was a math and science geek and developed my passion for art on the side in my own way. Now, I love working with colored pencils, oil painting, and am looking forward to learning about watercolors. I am planning to take some of the art classes available online to build some fundamentals.

  28. I only ever took general art classes in school. I never thought I was talented enough to try anything beyond that. I've learned a lot from books and sites like Drawspace. I'm still not sure I'm ready for an in-person class, but I definitely would like to try some online classes.
