PRO/ADVANCED WINNER - Sorina Williams
The reason we felt this was the winning piece was that first of all the likeness
is spot-on, you captured her essence with strong emotion, you were creative to
add your own unexpected flare to this but the thing that stands out the most is
the detail as seen in the realism of the hands. Love all the wispy pieces of
hair as well. Once you really start to look at this image you notice all the
subtle colors that are used with both warm and cool tones – it’s just beautiful!
BEGINNER/STUDENT WINNER - Tonya Ohrel
We are so fascinated with how you did this as a “reverse” image, using grey
pencils on black paper, for a “black and white” image. I know it was a struggle
but the results are breath-taking and I hope you are are as excited with the
results as we are! The skin is soft and I have to note the perfection with the
pinky (funny how something so small can make such an impact!), while I have to
also comment that I think the mole on her forehead needs to be either more
defined or eliminated all together. Those eyes and detail in the hair are
excellent. I am glad to see you left in the dark circles as I think this give
personality and emotion to the overall image. Thank you for your inspiring
entry!
