ADVANCED WINNER - Jan Shilling

WHY IT WON: We found that the more we looked at this piece the more we were impressed. It’s one of those that just gets better as you notice all the detail in each element such as the flower petals, the wood grain, and the variance in shades of red and orange in the front gourd. The fantastic shading really pushed and pulled each item in the frame and adding all the “flaws” to each vegetable really brought a lot of character out in them. The mice were a nice bonus!

BEGINNER WINNER - Ramona Hovey

WHY IT WON: Some of the elements in this piece look so real you can almost feel their texture, such as the bumps on the white pumpkin and the wood grain floor with pieces of straw scattered around. Nice work, thank you for joining in on the Challenge!

JUNIOR WINNER - Katherine Jakubowsky, age 10

WHY IT WON:  Such an amazing job and only 10 years old?! What a great job you did shaping these pumpkins using shading instead of just outlining. You really give a great sense of light and space by keeping highlight areas light and being bold enough to go dark where needed. The perspective on the floor needs work but we know this was a challenge even for the adults. Great job and congratulations!
